A 35- year-old Okada rider, Olasunkanmi Oladimeji, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly s£xu@lly assaulting a teenager.
The defendant, who resides at 33, Goodylove St., Egbeda, Akowonjo, Lagos State, is charged with sexual assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 27 at 32, Akinwowo St., Egbeda, Lagos.
Akeem said that the defendant was well-known by the 16- year-old and her family.
He said that the defendant came to the teenager’s residence to collect a movie disc and took advantage of her because she was the only one at home.
He said that the defendant forcefully kissed her, pushed her to a couch and tried to pull down her skirt and underwear.
“While trying to force his way into the girl, her elder sister came in and she raised an alarm,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until March 15 to enable the state director of public prosecutions to give advice on the case.
Meanwhile, a 47-year-old senior lecturer, Rasaq Kareem, was on Friday docked in an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court for alleged sexual assault.
The police charged Kareem, who lives in Agege, Lagos with sexual assault.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 22, 2022, at the Lagos State Science and Technology, Ikorodu, Lagos,
Akeem said that the complainant, 19, went to the defendant‘s office to submit an assignment and he shut the door.
The police said that the defendant attempted to remove the woman’s clothes and when she resisted, he forced her hands on his private part.
Akeem also said that the defendant touched the woman’s breast.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 264 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until March 16 for legal advice from the office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.
