The Katsina State Police Command has killed three alleged bandits and recovered 330 missing animals.
SP Gambo Isah, the command’s Public Relations Officer, told reporters in Katsina on Monday, April 19, 2021.
“Today, April 19, 2021, at approximately 04:00hrs, DPO Kankara led a team of policemen to Mararabar-Gurbi, a notorious cattle route used by bandits, based on reliable intelligence.
“The robbers were armed with advanced firearms and were moving with rustled domestic animals.
“Fortunately, when the hoodlums saw the officers, they engaged them in a gun battle, which resulted in the neutralization of three bandits, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds,” he said.

According to him, the police recovered one AK-49 rifle, 160 cows, 170 sheep, and two motorcycles from the scene.
In a related development, Isah reported that the police, in cooperation with vigilante members, apprehended Ibrahim Ma’aruf, 40, of Tashar Bokiti, Runka in the Safana local government area of the State who is a notorious gun dealer, kidnapper, and cattle rustler.
“Nemesis caught up with the hoodlum when he was accosted with 40 rustled cows between Dutsin-ma and Safana local government areas of the state,” he said.
He noted that the suspect was on the police wanted list, citing an incident in which the suspect, upon approaching a police checkpoint on the Dutsinma-Safana route, abandoned 96 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition for an AK 47 rifle and N780, 000, and fled to avoid arrest.
