Christiana Amadi, Coach of Nigeria Under 21 Beach volleyball team, has expressed confidence that the team would excel at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) U21 World Championship in Thailand.
Amadi who stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja, said the team would come back with a decent record at the end of the championship.
The coach said the fitness level of the players was high following the one month camp, and their participation at the just concluded 2023 National Beach Tour in Jalingo, Taraba.
“I have confidence in the girls because they have shown courage, determination and zeal in every championship they participated in.
“If you watched the last CAVB U21 championship in Casablanca, you will discover that the girls put in their best from the start of the tournament till the final.
“The players were in camp for a month under the tutelage of the head coach, John Iwerima before proceeding to the beach tour in Jalingo, ,”she said.
According to her the tour served as part of their training tour for the Championship
She thanked the board members of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation for ensuring that Nigeria did not miss the World Championship.
“I want to thank the Nigeria Volleyball Federation led by Musa Nimrod for ensuring that the country features in the World Championship.
“I believe we will give a good account of ourselves and make a statement at the Championship.
“We missed the last edition of the championship due to the outbreak of the Omicron virus.
“This time we are going back there and we are going to show the world what we are made of,” he added
NAN reports that Nigeria women qualified for the championship after placing second at the 2023 CAVB U21 Beach Volleyball Championship in Morocco in September.
The 2023 FIVB World championship is scheduled to hold from Nov. 8 to Nov. 13 at the Beach Event Roi Et, Thailand.
