VIO official battles for life: A VIO official is currently fighting for his life after being hit by a truck on the Keffi- Abuja express road.
The victim Mr. Udunobun Otaigbe, is the Truck Timing Unit Head of the DRTS on the Kugbo stretch.
When the incident occurred on Friday, June 11, the driver of the Mitsubishi truck with registration number AAA 477 XB, Wilson Aniete was allegedly violating the truck timing regulation on the road and attempting to evade arrest.
Meanwhile, according to a long-standing FCT ministerial directive, heavy-duty trucks should not be on the road in the mornings or evenings when workers are either on their way to work or returning home after work hours.

It was reported that the truck driver was stopped for disregarding the directive, and he parked by the side of the road. However, he is accused of starting the vehicle unexpectedly and ramming into the officer, who had turned his attention to something else.
Eyewitnesses pursued the truck driver, who was unable to travel far due to traffic congestion.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Karu Police Division by officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security personnel.
Meanwhile, the VIO official, who suffered a broken bone in his left leg as well as bruises on his face and hands, was taken to Asokoro District Hospital in Abuja and admitted to the intensive care unit.
