Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday jetted to the United States of America to seek global partnerships and support for Nigeria’s recently launched Energy Transition plan.
Osinbajo will meet with the World Bank Group, other partners, and his American counterpart Kamala Harris, according to a statement from the vice president’s spokesman, Laolu Akande.
The trip follows Osinbajo’s successful operation by nearly one month.
Osinbajo is in charge of Nigeria’s Energy Transition Implementation Working Group, which will begin meeting on September 1 as part of a US mission. The group’s goals are to promote the plan and win support from the US government, the private sector, and other development partners on a global scale.
According to reports, the efficient implementation of Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan will require at least $10 billion year in additional spending over what is now being spent.
At the inauguration, a $3 billion initial investment was offered by the World Bank and a renewable energy organization called Sun Africa in order to support the implementation of Nigeria’s transition plan.
