Among other trends in Nigeria is the ban of a giant social media platform ‘twitter’ by president Mohammadu Buhari.
Buhari’s ban on Twitter came barely 48 hours after his tweet threatening a part of the country with civil war was deleted by the operators of the social media mogul.
This move by Twitter seems not to go down well with Buhari’s APC led administration who called for a press conference through the minister of information Lia Mohammed claiming that the action shows that Twitter mission to Nigeria is suspicious.
Having made the claim President Buhari went further to announce the ban of Twitter in Nigeria.
The decision of President Buhari seems not to be acceptable by Nigerians and other Nations of the world who took to Twitter and other social media platforms to express their views on the president’s decision.
Speaking to dynamic News Hub John Okoh said President Mohammadu Buhari has only confirmed the claim of Afenifere Leader that he is a dictator and a leader leading by emotions and sentiment.
He noted that the former president of America Donald Trump, a country referred to as the world strongest power was banned on Twitter and Facebook over his post praising his supporters who invaded the country’s Capitol and Trump the then president did not ban Twitter and Facebook over their action towards him.
“Twitter is feeding a lot of Nigerian youths that is why restiveness has not escalated to unimaginable heights”
“Even those of us that are into Crypto trading 99% of our earnings are wired to Twitter, the president should not wake up and make a decision that is not favourable to a Nation like Nigeria”, he said
A Twitter user with the name Zunnurain @Hustleuthnan tweeted as follows:
“U can’t ban Boko haram. U can’t ban terrorism. U can’t ban kidnapping. U can’t ban insecurity. U can’t ban wicked government officials. But u can ban Twitter, So Twitter is ur problem?? Twitter has provided jobs for some people more than Buhari did in 6years”

“Do you know how many campaigns people do on this street daily?? So Twitter is the same where some influencers get money to sustain themselves. This government want to render people useless”.

“Freedom of speech used responsibly online and offline, and access to reliable information are fundamental human rights protected by Nigeria’s constitution and a cornerstone of democratic life around the world”
“These Human Rights should be fully protected while preventing inflammatory rhetoric and hate speech that could fuel tension and conflict”.
