The Igbos residing in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has elected His-Royal Highness Igwe Leonard-Ezike as the Eze Igbo Nasarawa to oversee the affairs of the Igbo Community in the Area.
Igwe Leonard won with 27 votes, defeating Cyril Inaji (17 votes) and Ameachi Stephen Ogbo (12 votes).
While speaking to Newsmen, the new Eze Igbo assured the Igbo community in the area of his readiness to lead with the fear of God, to ensure peace and their overall development as he urged the Igbo’s in the area to be law-abiding, respect constituted authorities, live in peace and tolerate one another.
He went on to say that his plan is to unite the Igbo people in the area and ensure that they speak with one voice, stressing that the importance of unity and peace to societal growth cannot be overstated.
“ peace is priceless and non-negotiable. We must therefore embrace peace and tolerate one another.
“My priority is to promote unity and peaceful co-existence among Igbos and other ethnic groups in this area, the state, and the country at large,” he said.
Leonard-Ezike, a businessman, urged his subjects and the entire community to take their business practices seriously in order to succeed in life and to continue to contribute their fair share to the growth of the region and the state as a whole.
He, however, assured of his readiness to operate an open-door policy and to carry every one of his subjects along while discharging their duties.
Igwe Ezike praised the Aren Eggon, HRH Dr. Bala Angbazo, the Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Mr. Danlami Idris, and other stakeholders in the area for accommodating Igbo people in the community
He also said that the Igbo people in the region will always support the government’s policies and programs.
