The Minister of State for petroleum, Timipre Sylva has stated that there is no set date for the removal of fuel subsidy.
In an interview with Channels Television, Sylva revealed that the government is working to put structures in place to mitigate the impact of eventual subsidy removal.
“I cannot give you a specific date right now. However, the Vice President is leading the effort, and we will soon inform Nigerians of the date the subsidy will be phased out.

“We must be considerate of our people; you cannot say that just because you have the muscle, you can box everyone in the room down. So, what we are saying is that before we do this, we need to put some structures in place to minimize the impact on people. We are attempting to develop a less expensive and more affordable alternative.
“We also believe there should be some palliatives,” he said.
