Taliban officials have declared China to be their most important international ally.
According to the group, Beijing is ready to invest in and rebuild Afghanistan, and the country is their “principal partner.”
The group’s spokesman, Zabihulla Mujahid, stated that the Chinese would assist in reviving Afghan copper mining.
He also praised the Chinese government for their One Belt, One Road investment initiative, which has progressed despite opposition from Western countries.
China is one of the few countries that did not evacuate personnel from their Kabul embassy following the Taliban’s takeover.
A Taliban delegation was also reported to have visited China in July for talks with Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Tianjin.

Mr. Mujahid told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica,
“China is our main partner, and it represents a fundamental and extraordinary opportunity for us because it is willing to invest in and rebuild our country.”
“We value the One Belt, One Road initiative, which aims to revitalize the ancient Silk Road.
