Paul Onuachu, a striker for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Genk of Belgium, has been ruled out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Onuachu suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s 1-1 home draw with Royal Antwerp.
Prior to his injury, the former FC Midtylland player had opened the scoring for Genk in the first half.
After suffering an injury, the 27-year-old was replaced by Ike Ugbo 20 minutes from time.
After Victor Osimhen was ruled out of the competition last month, Onuachu’s injury is another major setback for Nigeria’s chances of making a significant impact at the competition.
Onuachu is now expected to be out for about a month as he recovers.
