‘Rio Ferdinand, a former defender for Manchester United, has stated that despite Liverpool’s 7-1 thumping of Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday, he worries about the “fragile minds” on the team.
Six goals were scored by the Reds against the Scottish team in the second half, including Mohamed Salah’s fastest hat-trick in Champions League history.
In the Premier League standings, Jurgen Klopp’s team dropped to ninth after Sunday’s loss to Arsenal.
However, the victory in Scotland will bolster spirits, and former England defender Ferdinand still believes that the Reds’ self-assurance will be shaken.
This coming weekend, Liverpool will play Manchester City in the Premier League, and according to Ferdinand, Jurgen Klopp will be concerned about how they start games.
Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey had predicted that despite their recent dismal form, the Reds will finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, alongside Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City.
“I’m sure them players will be going into this huge game against Man City bouncing with confidence, but still there will be fragile minds as well when things maybe don’t go their way,” ‘Rio Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
“This team are accustomed to going one goal behind in games, it’s happening far too often
“That’s one of the things that will be irking the manager. He’ll be thinking, ‘Why is this? Why can’t we start the game properly? Why are we giving teams a goal start at the moment?’”
