The chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Jalingo Chapter Alhaji Lukman Mohammed has called on the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to regulate pump price situation at the deport.
He made the call during an interview with Newsmen on Thursday March 18, 2021.
According to Mohammed, the situation has made it difficult for state marketers to follow Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) directives not to sell petrol for more than N162 per litre.
He stated that Marketers have been forced to sell above the official price due to the recent rise in depot fee.
He said previously they were paying N147 per litre at the depot and selling at N162, but the depot fee has increased to N157.78, so the filling station price can no longer be stable.
He noted that their concern is that the same DPR that insists on the official price will not regulate depot charges but will insist on them not selling above the official price.
“We are pleading with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), to mend the situation at the depot,” he said
Marketers, on the other hand, said they were able to sell fuel at the official price if the depot fee was reduced.
According to information gathered some marketers in Taraba state are selling petrol at N170 per litre, but the DPR had cautioned them against selling above the official price of N162.
