Following Nigeria’s 4-0 defeat to Portugal in an International Friendly on Thursday night, November 17, 2022, a minor controversy ensued between a Super Eagles player, Moses Simon, and renowned Finidi George which generated a lot of reactions.
While Nigerians were fuming about the team’s failure to do well on the pitch resulting in consecutive friendly defeats, assistant coach Finidi George and forward Moses Simon engaged in an argument.
Note that players exchange jerseys as a post-game tradition, which is what Simon and Portuguese defender Pepe were going to do when George was seen asking for the jersey instead.
Although his words were inaudible, George was plainly upset that Simon ignored him to take the shirt.
The players, on the other hand, had their jerseys swapped and walked away.
Portugal won team Nigeria by scoring 2 goals in each half which ended at 4:0.
Here are the reactions to George and Simon’s display as some Nigerians have shared their views on the blue bird app.
