The Ekiti State police command has confirmed the arrest of ten suspects for alleged involvement in a rival cult clash in Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area.
ASP Sunday Abutu, the Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Ado Ekiti said the clash happened on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
“I can confirm to you that ten people have been arrested in connection with the gruesome cult clash. The conflict was sparked by competition and a display of strength,” he said.

The police spokesman also confirmed that six people were killed in the clash and that their bodies have been deposited in the morgue.
“We also launched serious operations there with a joint group of men from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Amotekun Corps, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
“Those arrested are in our custody, and after our investigations are completed, they will be tried in court”, he added.
Meanwhile, the police have deployed more officers and expanded surveillance on the town by performing stop-and-search operations on cars and people entering and exiting the town
