Police Arrest 38-year-old pastor For Allegedly Deflowering A 14-year-old Choir Member.
Pastor Israel Adebayo, 38, was detained in Ogun State on suspicion of deflowering a 14-year-old choir member.
Adebayo is the General Overseer of The Beloved Chapel, which is located in the Agbado district of Ogun State at No. 9 Iyaniwura Street, off Owonikoko Street.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s police public relations officer, announced the arrest in a statement and said the suspect was detained as a result of a report the victim’s mother had made to the Agbado Divisional Headquarters.
He claimed that the victim’s mother claimed that the victim’s daughter, who also happened to be a choir member in their church, went to church and the Pastor lured her into his room and forcibly had carnal knowledge of her. This occurred when the victim traveled to treat herself for a specific ailment.
On interrogation, the Pastor who admitted defiling the victim pleaded for forgiveness. According to him, his family and that of the victim are so close, but he didn’t know how and why such a thing happened to him,” the police spokesman said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect would have been arrested long ago, but the mother of the victim frustrated the move because she doesn’t want to offend her Pastor. But when the victim is continuously bleeding from her private part since the incident which happened October 2021, she was left with no other option than to allow police come into the matter.”
Lanre Bankole, the commissioner of police, has directed that the case be transferred to the state criminal investigation department for additional research and potential prosecution.
No matter how close they are to the perpetrators of indecent assault on their daughters, the police commissioner urged parents to quit covering for them because doing so could subject them to punishment for committing a felony on top of the original offense.
