International Women’s Day is a day set aside to honor women all over the world, and this year’s theme is “Women in Leadership,” with the #ChooseToChallenge as part of the celebration.

Angela Merkel is a German politician who has served as the country’s Chancellor since 2005. From 2002 to 2005, she was the Leader of the Opposition, and from 2000 to 2018, she was the Leader of the Christian Democratic Party. Merkel, a member of the Christian Democratic Union, is Germany’s first female chancellor.
