The Vice-Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Prof. Amidu Sanni, has advised students of the university to be security-conscious and report suspicious movements to the management.
Sanni gave the advice at the university’s 14th matriculation ceremony, held on Tuesday at the university’s campus in Osogbo, Osun.
The vice-chancellor said that it was pertinent for the students to be security conscious at all times, given the security challenges currently confronting the country.
“The current security challenges across the country in which innocent students are not even spared demand you all to be security conscious.
“Report any strange movement or face to the hostel manager or security personnel in a calm and reasonable manner,” he advised.

Sanni, while congratulating the newly admitted students for successfully gaining admission into the faith-based university, urged them to be of good morals, warning that all forms of indiscipline would be sanctioned.
“Note that the university, by its very nature of being an Islamic-oriented or faith-inspired institution, places a very high premium on good morals and applies appropriate sanctions in respect of all acts of indiscipline.
“We do not tolerate indecent dressing. So you must adhere strictly to our dress code, which includes conspicuous wearing of your valid identity card anytime you are on campus.
“Absenteeism, physical assaults, substance abuse, unauthorised outing, insubordination and all forms of exam malpractices or membership of unapproved societies would attract outright dismissal and public display of details of such lawbreakers.
“So, do not bring disgrace to your family,” the vice-chancellor added.
He said that a total of 451 students, comprising 319 full-time, 103 part-time, nine diploma and 20 post-graduate, were being matriculated.
“They are to join the school existing College of Management and Applied Sciences and College of Natural and Applied Science,” he said.
Sanni said that two new colleges: Law and Basic Medical and Health Sciences, have been approved for the institution, even as he congratulated the first set of students to be admitted into the new colleges.
