Nasarawa State University Keffi (Nsuk)has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Veterinary research institute (VOM), plateau State with a view to improving the capacity of research in the University.
The ceremony was held at the Senate chamber of Nasarawa State University Keffi, on Wednesday 24 August 24, 2022.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding was performed by the Vice Chancellor Nasarawa State University Keffi Nsuk, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed and the executive director, National Veterinary Research Institute VOM, Plateau state, Doctor Maryam Mohammed, was to formalise the collaboration between the two organizations in terms of research in Animal field.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, said the major areas agreed upon by the two parties include, joint research and mapping, exchange of staff and students in terms of fellowships, sabbaticals, internship, and student’s industrial work experience scheme SIWES, as well as joint publication and exchange of artificial dissemination services.
Suleiman, further disclosed that the field of collaboration with the National Veterinary Research Institute Vom, includes Microbiology, Geography, Biochemistry, Science Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Artificial dissemination, and Animal breeding, stressing that professor Yabubu Boi Ngwai of the Nasarawa University and Sunday Makama of NVRI Jos have been appointed to ensure full implementation of the MOU.
On her part, the executive director, National Veterinary Research institute Jos, doctor Maryam Mohammed, revealed that NVRI will clock hundred years in 2024 and has been collaborating with different organizations in the areas of research, maintaining that the signing of the agreement with the Nasarawa State University will no doubt improve academic research and thanked the University management for their efforts towards maintaining the standard of education in the institution.
The registrar of the University, Bala Ahmed the second, said the agreement signifies that the two institutions are ready to work together to achieve their desire in research and innovation and appreciated the directorate of research, innovation, and enterprise and the directorate of linkages and international corporation of the University for their bold step taking to collaborate with other organizations to improving research.
Responding, the director of research, innovation, and enterprises, Professor Yakubu Boi Ngwai, and the Head of department Aqua Culture and fishery management, faculty of Agriculture Lafia, Professor Samuel Avengbe, promised to give their best to ensure the two institutions succeed.
