The Kano Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has shut down a factory in the state’s Ungogo Local Government Area over allegations of manufacturing counterfeit lubricating oil.
The announcement was made by the command’s spokesman, ASC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano.
According to Idris-Abdullahi, one Ali Ibrahim was apprehended in the act of allegedly producing adulterated lubricating oil at Rangaza village in Ungoggo.
The corps also confiscated 25 drums containing 200 litres of adulterated engine oil, adding that the oil was labelled with Total, Mobil, and Conoil stickers.
He said that the operation was carried out successfully by operatives of the corps’ anti-vandalism unit after a tip-off from officials of the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON).
