NSCDC arrests 4 suspects: The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has arrested four suspects for attempting to lynch its personnel while on duty.
The four suspects were among the six people shown to newsmen on Thursday by the command at its headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan, for alleged fraud and dealing in counterfeit currency.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Michael Adaralewa, explained in a press conference that the suspects attempted to commit the act while being detained for alleged stealing.
According to Adaralewa, the officers went to the Agugu area of Ibadan on Tuesday to arrest them on suspicion of stealing.
“As the suspects were being taken into custody, they began shouting kidnappers, prompting the people in the area to attack the officers.
“It took the intervention of other security agencies to save the officers from being lynched,” said the officer.

He warned people not to attack security agents; saying that anyone caught doing so would face the full force of the law.
A 26-year-old herbalist who specialized in defrauding innocent citizens was also arrested, as was a 37-year-old alleged fraudster who deals in counterfeit currency.
In an interview, the 37-year-old suspect stated that someone deposited the money with him and he did not realize it was counterfeit currency until he gave it to another customer.
The commandant said that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was completed.
Adaralewa said that the command had zero tolerance to crime and criminality and worked in synergy with other sister security agencies to secure lives and property in the state.
“Security is the responsibility of all and we have revamped our strategies, intelligence gathering, and very soon the state will witness more peace and harmony,’’ he said.
