Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, could not be reached for comment.
According to a statement released by the NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, over 200 people were profiled and interviewed at the party, including three young females who organized it.
Bottles of the new drink have been taken to the lab for testing, he said.
“The hotel was searched about 8.18 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, following actionable intelligence that certain youngsters were arranging a hemp party at the hotel,” Babafemi added.
“Cannabis sativa was found in large quantities in the wallets and backpacks of individuals arrested at the hemp party.” Attempts by some groups to build a drug subculture in the Nigerian social space are undoubtedly behind the ambitious celebration.
“However, the NDLEA would continue to collaborate with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure that illicit substance consumption does not become entrenched in the country under any pretext”, he said.
