The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 26 new cases of COVID-19, taking the country’s overall number of infections to 164,233.
The NCDC announced this on its official Twitter account on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
According to the centre, the new cases were recorded in five states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Ebonyi had ten cases and Lagos had nine.
The FCT reported two cases, Kano two, Osun two, and one in Oyo.
According to the NCDC, in the last 24 hours, seven people were treated and discharged from numerous isolation centres across the country.

The NCDC stated that a multi-sectorial national emergency operations centre (EOC) activated at Level III has continued to manage the country’s national response activities.
However, to deter the spread of infectious diseases in their homes, the centre urged Nigerians to clean their surfaces in their houses, stores, and workplaces regularly.
“Take responsibility for protecting yourself, loved ones, clients, colleagues, and society from infections like COVID-19,” it said.
Meanwhile, as children return to school, the NCDC advises parents to help their children stay healthy by teaching and emphasizing everyday defensive acts such as not lowering their guard.
”They should adequately wear a face mask, wash their hands daily, maintain physical distance, avoid big events organized indoors with an inadequate commitment to preventive measures, and obtain medical attention if they are sick.
“Most individuals infected with COVID-19 do not exhibit symptoms, but they may transmit the disease to others.
“Let us continue to follow all public health advisories on COVID-19 prevention,” the statement added.
It urged parents and caregivers to notify school officials of any changes or indications that a child was ill.
“We are also talking to and encouraging parents to report any relatives showing symptoms of COVID-19 to their school principals.
“The battle against COVID-19 in classrooms, whether boarding or day requires the complete participation of everyone” the statement added.
