The Rep Member Representing the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, Samuel Onuigbo, said he built a couple of classrooms, skill acquisition centres, hospital, provided electricity and also carried out massive erosion control works in different local government in the State.
He stated this while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
Onuigbo who noted some of his achievement urged elected public servants not to take voters for granted but rather provide quality service in exchange for their votes.
According to him, Nigeria can only be changed if political officials learn to represent the people who elected them.
“When you run for office and you are freely elected, do not take it for granted that the people, the electorate, freely shared their mandate and embraced you.”
He also noted that there are 32 electoral wards in his Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, which spans three Local Government Areas, including the state capital.
The lawmaker added that it would be difficult to go through such wards on Election Day and place a gun to everyone’s head, forcing them to vote for his candidacy.
“I went to over 285 homes for consultations even before I received my party’s nomination. I informed my constituents that I would like to serve them based on effectiveness, accessibility, and responsiveness (EAR).

“I consulted for nearly a year before the primaries elections, and I was able to explain to them my vision and what I plan to do before they put their faith in me,” he said.
The legislator explained that this prompted him to promote programs such as electricity by supplying transformers, street lights, and power poles to areas that had previously lacked such services.
Others include; massive erosion control works at Amankwo Ezeleke -Amachara in Umuahia South LGA and Okwe-Obuohia Road in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State through the Ecological Fund Office.
“I facilitated the establishment of a major skill acquisition centre with nine skill units, one of the largest in the country, at Apumiri Ubakala, the headquarters of Umuahia South LGA.
“I have already constructed several classroom blocks as well as hospitals; the hospital at Ahia Eke Oloko is now ready for commissioning.”
“I continued to facilitate projects even when I was in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and now that I am in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), it means that the only thing central to me is service to humanity Onuigbo added.
