Popular actress Funke Akindele discusses her most recent film, “Battle on Buka Street,” in this interview with Deji Lambo. She describes the film as a farewell endeavor before entering politics.
When asked, How did the idea for your new movie come about?
She said, “Battle on Buka Street, my newest film, has me very enthusiastic. The original story belongs to a young man named Jack. The talent we featured on “Battle on Buka Street” is young and up-and-coming, and the person is a newcomer to the entertainment business. Nollywood needs to prepare for the fresh faces. Because working with young people has had a significant impact on my life, whenever I learn that they have a new project to work on, I immediately jump on it and assist them.
When asked, How involved are you in this project?
She said, “A great change has happened positively if you noticed. From being an actor, I also write, produce, direct and discover new faces. So, I have passed the baton of production to the young people because I have moved into politics now. So, ‘Battle on Buka Street’ is like a farewell because I am going to be the next deputy governor of Lagos State. So, I am passing the baton to the new ones because we need to give them an opportunity. Yes, I will be in the background to advise and supervise them, but let them be the face, let us celebrate them, are you not tired of seeing old faces?”
When asked, What are the hard lessons learnt since you became a politician?
She said, “Nothing good comes easy; my mum has always told me that you have to work hard, pray harder and you learn patience to get to the top. So, moving into politics, yes there are a lot of backlashes, a lot of no, but don’t forget, I got a lot of no before I got here today. Everybody can’t support you, and if they do so, that means you are not doing something good. So, you must get people to criticise you constructively; you pick the constructive ones and be better with it. I have learnt to be better, calmer, more dedicated and not to give up”.
Remember that Dr. Olajide Adediran, often known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for governor of Lagos State, officially announced and presented Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his running mate on July 12, 2022
But the announcement of Akindele, also known as “Jenifer,” as Jandor’s running mate will put an end to weeks of rumors.
In the meantime, a formal statement provided to Vanguard by the head of media and communications for the Jandor ’23 Campaign Organization indicated that Jandor would also reveal his running mate and the “RESCUE Lagos Agenda.” A
