Mr Ibrahim Kabiru, a 19-year-old local nail cutter, says he earns N1, 500 per day, totalling N45, 000 per month, from cutting and cleaning nails.
Kabiru, who works in Benin, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the job is assisting him in meeting his basic needs.
The nail cutter stated that he moved from Sokoto State to Benin to begin the work.
He stated that, while it was difficult for him to move around the city looking for customers, he was content that he was not idle.
Kabiru also said he was interested in maize farming but lacked the necessary funds.

According to him since he was uneducated he could only farm and cut nails
He stated that he charged N100 for both a pedicure and a manicure, and N50 for either.
He noted that starting a nail cutting business costs only about N1, 000, which includes a pair of small scissors, a nail cutter, foam, water, and detergent.
When asked if he would like to return to farming if he was supported, Kabiru said yes.
He stated that to be successful in farming, one must have money.
