The Managing Director of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, (LSDC), Ayodeji Joseph, has thrown his weight behind the 2023 Lagos State Street Soccer Championship set to commence on Oct. 1.
Ayodeji gave this assurance when Bolaji Yusuf, Chairman of Lagos State Street Soccer Championship, paid him a courtesy visit in his office as part of activities to get stakeholdaers’ buy-in for the 2023 championship starting in October.
According to Ayodeji, grassroots development is the only panacea to talent discovery for any sports.
“We need to refocus on what we did before in Lagos and many other parts of Nigeria where we discovered great footballers and athletes that represented Nigeria and became global superstars.
“The Lagos Street Soccer championships has been a huge success where many footballers were able to hone their skills.”
Yusuf thanked the LSDPC boss for the warm reception, hospitality and support for the 2023 Lagos Street Soccer championship.
He promised to relay his message to the Lagos FA. “We are happy for this reception. This visit is the first of many in our quest to galvanise support for the championship.
“We are looking at a public and private partnership to actualise the lofty programme designed to give the youth a platform to pursue their dreams and also engage them positively.”
Recall that the Lagos Street Soccer committee recently awarded Surulere Local Government Area the hosting rights for the 2023 championship.
