The Living Faith Church, otherwise known as Winners Chapel, Alpines Boulevards, Mpape Junction, Abuja, on Sunday, began a three-day free medical outreach to residents, as part of its community services.
The medical outreach in the community, under the Bwari Local Government, Abuja, saw a total number of 131 residents benefitting on the first day, in different areas.
The service focused on the eye, body and Sugar level check-ups, as well as the provision of drugs to those who were diagnosed with different illnesses during the body check-up, with those having eye problems receiving glasses.
Speaking during the outreach, the resident pastor of the church, Pst. Gbenga Adegoke stated that the first purpose of the outreach was to show the good hand of God in the community hosting the church.
He stated that the second purpose of the outreach was to mark the 67th birthday of Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder and spiritual father of the church, whose birthday falls on Monday, Sept. 27.
“Health is the major need of the people here, we have in this regard paid the medical bills of some of the residents, we are prompted by the act of God in our midst.
“This medical outreach is a regular thing in all the Living Faith Churches, we are not the first to carry out this kind of exercise, I am aware of other locations that are doing this too,” he said.
Adegoke added that the outreach was also an avenue to win more people into the church, adding that when people see that some people care about them, they would always want to stay around and be part of the liberation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the outreach had several nurses, as well as doctors, who were on hand to administer services on the residents.
Pst. Aloysius Onyegbulem, the pastor in charge of the medical unit, also known as the Gilead unit, said that the outreach was organised to help the less privileged, who may afford to pay hospital bills.
He said that it was also to make the people know what faith is all about, adding that where faith could not work to prevail on the sicknesses of some people, the physical help of medical assistance would be applied.
Onyegbulem called on the people to always live by faith and have the belief that God can conquer each of their challenges.
One of the beneficiaries of the medical services, Mrs Augustina Njuokocha, appreciated the church for the medical assistance, saying that her ailments had been taken care of and her faith increased following the service she attended in church.
