Liverpool Star Salah, has been criticized by his Muslim supporters on social media for posting a photo of his family with an amazing Christmas tree.
The Egyptian captain joined a long-standing custom of sharing holiday wishes on social media.
According to Daily Mail, the Liverpool Star Salah has posted pictures of himself over the years with a Christmas tree decorated with presents together with his family relaxing wearing pyjamas.
Many of his followers who feel he shouldn’t be celebrating Christmas but there were those who praised his warm wishes for everyone.
Although Muslims don’t typically celebrate Christmas, some do take part in the celebrations that occur around the Christian holiday.
Muslim Salah published the image on his Twitter and Instagram accounts with the hashtag “#MerryChristmas.”
The 30-year-old dressed in matching pajamas for his customary Christmas post with his family, which includes wife Magi and children Makka and Kayan.
Muslims who support Liverpool have criticized Salah’s tweet, with one saying: “I shall be unfollowing you and cease supporting Liverpool because you are enjoying Christmas with the Christians.”
Another said: ‘I’ve been a Liverpool fan since I was born but I will stop supporting the club because you are celebrating Christmas with the Christians. You’ve just lost me as a fan Mo Salah. Goodbye!’
Others defended the Egyptian forward, with one fan describing him as the ‘African GOAT’.
‘To us you are Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe combined. Enjoy,’ they said.
Another fan said: ‘The most anticipated Christmas post annually. Merry Christmas Mo.’
Others claim Salah’s annual Christmas post is a curse on Liverpool. After he put a similar picture on social media in 2020, the Reds failed to win a game at Anfield for eight matches in a row.
