Obasa also praised the state government’s executive, legislative, and judicial branches for maintaining peace in the state.
“It is clear that we are in tough times, and these times require drastic measures.
“We must examine the numerous recommendations and reports available to us on how to best unite the nation, engage youths, reduce unemployment, and boost the economy.
“We are aware that COVID-19, which struck Nigeria in the first quarter of 2020, had a negative impact on the economy.
“People, governments, and companies have been forced to adopt new ways of life as a result of the crisis, which may have contributed to the increased level of insecurity across the nation, among other things.
“Residents in Lagos, on the other hand, have maintained their resolve to live in love and harmony.
“The state government has also maintained its commitment to provide a liveable atmosphere for citizens and businesses to prosper, and we deserve praise for that,” he said.
The state assembly had also passed bills and resolutions aimed at strengthening society and youth participation, according to the speaker.
He also vowed that they would never rest on their oars in order to compel the people of the state to sleep with their eyes closed all of the time.
According to him, in order to do this, politicians would have to work with other branches of government as well as the general public.
The speaker noted that state policing was always the best choice, encouraging people to adhere to their resolutions to live in peace and harmony, regardless of religious differences.
