Just a few months after Kanye West’s private Donda Academy School launched, a Jewish teacher and educational consultant reportedly quit due to his anti-Semitic outbursts.
According to Mail Online, the rapper’s string of social media statements prompted Dr. Tamar Andrews, 57, to resign from her position at Donda Academy in Simi Valley, California.
When the secrecy prep school first opened its doors in September, she was employed there as a consultant; tuition there is $15,000 per year. However, she was forced to resign from her position after West, 45, made multiple anti-Semitic rants that led sportswear major Adidas to fire him.
The president of Temple Isaiah of Los Angeles, where Andrews is a director, issued the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “Dr. Andrews promptly resigned from Donda Academy following Ye West’s tweet.
Since she felt she could no longer support the organisation, “her last day was October 11, 2022.”
Two families had claim they were coerced into signing nondisclosure agreements, which is consistent with the clandestine character of the institution, and West has previously claimed that 82 students had been enrolled in the elite school.
West is ‘serious’ about the initiative, according to Malik Yusef, a longtime colleague and producer for the rapper who claims to have helped develop the idea for the school.
Dr. Andrews previously defended the school’s practise of requiring each parent of a student to sign an NDA, which she described to Rolling Stone as a “informal arrangement.”
Speaking previously, the Jewish teacher said: ‘Honestly, we don’t care if people know about the school.
‘The people that want to come to the school are looking for a good Christian school in that area and they know that we’re there … there is also a certain notoriety that comes with being affiliated with Donda.
‘So, I don’t know that we have to advertise, which is a blessing and a curse.’
Her resignation is coming shortly after Kanye lost his billionaire status as Adidas cancelled his contract in the face of mounting criticism for his anti-Semitic outbursts.
The rapper’s $220 million yearly contract with the German sports company, worth a total of $1.5 billion, was cancelled due to his unsavoury behaviour.
