The Imo State chapter of the Nigerian Police Force has unveiled the identities and sponsors of the unknown gunmen who have been terrorising the state in recent times.
The State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) Bala Elkana disclosed this during a press briefing and parade of the arrested suspect in Owerri the State capital on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
According to Bala, the suspected unknown gunmen were arrested after men of the Nigerian Army, men of the Nigerian Police, DSS and other security agencies repelled their attack on the police headquarters in the State in an attempt to release their members in police custody.
Recall that resident of Owerri were woken up in the early hours of Sunday with gunshots which also hindered them from attending Sunday church service.
According to the confession of one of the surviving gang member as others were killed during the attack, Stanley Osinachi a native of Mberi in Mbaitolu Local government area of Imo State, Eastern Security Network (ESN) were the mastermind of the recent unrest in the state.

Stanley also noted that the leader of the ESN camp located in Akaboh in Ikeduru area of the state is Dragon; he went on to say that the group get most of their funding abroad.
