Hard work: Gateman becomes shop owner in Abuja after years of hardwork, Ishaku Harona Audu, who works as a gateman in Abuja the capital of Nigeria, has become a shop owner after years of consistency, hard work, and perseverance.
this was disclosed by the first Black Senator in Poland and Former Member Of Polish Parliament, Hon. Dr. John Abraham Godson the employer of Ishaku.
He said saw consistency in Ishaku who started working for him first as a laborer in his building site and decided to make him his gateman.
“I don’t usually like sharing such stories but I feel this one is loaded with lessons for youths that I need to share it”.
“Three years ago I met this young man on my Abuja building site. His name is Ishaku but everyone calls him Black because he is very dark in complexion. Black is a Kanuri but has been working a labourer building sites”.
“After every day of work when others are leaving- Black will stay behind and do some extra work – cleaning and maintaining my compound. He was so consistent on this that I decided to ask him to be my gate man. Black would farm the land, take care of everything. Even when some land grabbers came with DSS to take my property – Black stood them. He was beaten and arrested but he didn’t flinch”.
“Fast forward. Black has always had a dream of owning a grocery shop. He showed me the two shops he just built using wood and scraps. I joked and told him that he is becoming an Igbo man we laughed. The shop was ready but it was empty”.
“A few days I ago decided to give him a little gift to buy a few things for his shop. Black was so very happy. Today he called me to come and see his shop. We went there. To my surprise, a few of his friends were there. He even has an employee. There was a cello-tape to cut with the scissors he provided. We ceremoniously cut it”.
“Even though the shop is far from ideal – I see in this young man the spirit of diligence and loyalty. And I am absolutely sure he is headed for greater success”.
“And by the way – I was his first client. I have never been happier to part with my money buying a few things most of which I don’t need”.
What are the lessons you can learn from Black?
1. Be diligent. Whatever you are doing – do it well.
2. Go the extra mile. Do more than you are paid for. The reward is greater than the pay.
3. Be faithful in little things. And greater things will be committed to you. Black is currently the caretaker of our property in Abuja. Abs he is a very good one.
4. Be faithful in what belongs to others. God will give you your own.
5. And to you employers – Show acts of kindness. Bless those workers who have shown to be faithful and diligent. Let their well-being and development be your concern, Hon Abraham said.
