Unknown gunmen have allegedly killed Mr Solomon Akeweje, Commissioner of the Kogi State Pension Board, and kidnapped Mr Pius Kolawole, the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government.
DSP William Aya, the spokesman for the state police command, confirmed the incident to the Newsmen noting that the Commissioner and Kolawole were in the same vehicle when they were attacked.
He stated that police received the report of the attack around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, and immediately responded to the scene.

According to a police spokesman the victims were attacked in Eruku, a border town between Kwara and Kogi states.
“Akeweje and Kolawole were returning to Egbe from Kwara State when they were ambushed by unidentified gunmen.
“The whereabouts of the kidnapped Kolawole are unknown as of the time of this report, and his kidnappers have yet to call.
“The driver of the vehicle, however, escaped the attack, and Akeweje’s body was deposited at the morgue of ECWA Hospital in Egbe,” he said.
