For approving the construction of Nekede Ihiagwa Road, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Francis Chukwuemeka Eze has applauded the Governor of Imo State Hope Uzodinma.
This was made known when the VC and his Management team paid a courtesy visit to the Governor on 19 February 2021, at the Government House Owerri.
The VC who doubles as head of the delegation, while speaking appreciated the governor and expressed joy over the leadership styles of the governor which he said is reflecting all over the state.
The VC in his words described Gov. Uzodimma as Mr. Project and expressed his happiness on behalf of the university community over the Nekede-Ihiagwa road construction which has helped in ending the pains suffered by both staff and students on the road as it is no longer the same as at today. He noted that the 3R mandate of the state government has placed much trust in the government than in the past.
In his response, Gov. Hope Uzodimma assured the management of the University that his administration will do its best to enable them to do their job without disturbances.
“I thank the Council for maintaining a cordial relationship with the school, the students, the FUTO host Community, and Imo State in general.
“Therefore, I assure the management of the University that we will do our best to enable them to do their job without disturbances. For instance, on the assumption of duty as the Governor of Imo State, I took the issue of land encroachment seriously and resolved the problem – that is why there is relative peace between the University and the Communities in the area.
“The government will continue to create an enabling environment that will encourage them to do their job. I noted that though the school belongs to the Federal Government, the major beneficiaries are the people of Imo State in particular and the South East in general. So it is a partnership that the State cannot afford to fail he said.
