Six farmers, including four women, has been killed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in a Tiv settlement in Keana Local Government Area Nasarawa State.
Comrade Peter Ahemba, President of Tiv Development Association (TIDA) Nasarawa State, confirmed the incident on Saturday, June 12, saying gunmen invaded Tse-Jimin village, Jimin-Gbaka in Aloshi kingdom of Keana LGA at around 9:45 p.m. on Friday, June 11.
“Around 9:45 p.m. yesterday, unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked Tse-Jimin village, Jimin Gbaka, which is in Aloshi kingdom of Keana LG, killing six people, two males and four females,” he said
Batholomi Yahaya, Mnena Gideon, Ityokugh Yakubu, Timothy Aye, Ababi Tsavbee, and Blessing Oliver were among those killed, according to Comrade Ahemba.
According to the TIDA president, one of the women who survived the attack confirmed that the attackers were Fulani herdsmen.
“My call to the government of Nasarawa State is to strengthen the security of citizens’ lives and property, including that of the Tiv people of Nasarawa State, as this attack is unprovoked,” he said.
“There was nothing, they just came and attacked our people, so I’m appealing to the Nasarawa governor and the federal government to come to the aid of the Tiv people of Nasarawa State.”

“We are being annihilated, they are chasing us out of Nasarawa State for what we don’t know, we are very peaceful people committed to promoting peace among Nasarawa State’s diverse nationalities.”
“I want to commend the prompt intervention of the security agents in Keana LG and the traditional rulers,” he said, adding that “the traditional ruler of Aloshi has summoned a meeting of Tiv and Fulani leaders in the area to find a lasting solution,” he further said.
