Ese Brume, the bronze medalist in the long jump at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, has demonstrated that she intends to wear her medal on the Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo.
Brume secured Nigeria’s first medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Tuesday morning, August 3, when she leaped 6.97 metres with her first jump to take bronze behind second-placed Brittany Reece of the United States and gold medallist Malaika Mihambo of Germany.
“I plan to go to Canaan-Land to wear it (the bronze medal) on Bishop David Oyedepo,” the 25-year-old said shortly after winning the bronze.
“I am overjoyed and thankful to God. I am overjoyed to have placed in the top three. I will admit that I am not the best athlete, but I thank God for bringing me this far.
“I can not stop smiling, no matter what colour the medal is,” she added.

Brume dedicated her medal to “God Almighty, who has been my pillar and has brought me to the top.” I would also like to dedicate the medal to Bishop David Oyedepo, my family, my coach, and those who were present but were unable to compete.
“It has been a great season for me starting in April when I was injured, but no matter what challenges I faced, I never settled for less. I keep pushing, and my coach tells me, “Ese, you can do it.” “It is not so much about my training as it is about my faith in God,” Brume explained.
