Enugu State Government has urged players and Management of Rangers FC to be committed and win the 2023 Federation cup final coming up in Asaba, Delta State.
Mr Krist Mbah, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sport, Enugu, gave this advise, saying that the government is solidly behind the club.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Rangers FC and Bendel Insurance will meet in the 2023 Federation cup final in Asaba, Delta State, on Wednesday.
According to him, “All we want from the players and management of Rangers International FC is to be committed and see the final match as a door to bigger successes.
“They have to see football as a business because that will sell the players globally and improve the technical profile of the players.
“My expectation is that Rangers FC is going to win the FA cup because we have made adequate arrangements to make the players and the technical team happy.
“Enugu Government has done well by providing all the things needed to execute the match but all we seek is that Enugu people to come out en mass and support the club.
“My only happiness is that I saw Rangers in camp and they are all in high spirit going into the match,” he said.
He said that the players promised to present the trophy as gift to Gov. Peter Mbah within his the first 100 days in office.
“As for me, Rangers has done well in spite of the club’s woeful performance in the national league but they were able to reach this height in the FA cup.
“They have done well in propagating the identity of Igbo people by not going to relegation and going all the way to the Wednesday final,” he said.
Mbah said that the team will not lack in prosecuting international matches if they win the FA cup and qualify for continental competition.
“Our Governor is an entrepreneur, a young man who knows the ways of achieving his purpose, so sponsoring Rangers FC to continental competitions will not be a problem,” the Permanent Secretary said.
