A footballer from the English Premier League (EPL) has been arrested on suspicion of child sex offences.
The player was arrested and questioned by police before being released on bail on Friday.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) issued a statement saying, “Officers arrested a man on Friday on suspicion of child sex offences.” He is being held on police bail pending further investigation”.
While the investigation is ongoing, the footballer has been suspended by his club.
The club stated that it would assist with the investigation.
According to an England newspaper, the investigation is being led by GMP’s major incident team.
It went on to say that there was no sign of activity at the player’s home after he returned from the police station on Tuesday.
