The Edo State Police Command has paraded three suspected cultists accused of dehumanizing a female TikToker known only as Olivia.
The suspects, who were paraded at the Benin City police headquarters on Friday, October 1, allegedly brutalized and stripped Olivia naked for a TikTok video in which she was allegedly miming an Aiye cult audio.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Bello Kontongs, said the suspects had all confessed to the crime and admitted to being members of the Aye secret cult.
“Following the viral video clip in which some young men were seen assaulting and dehumanizing a young lady, Commissioner of Police CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu Psc(+) directed a discreet investigation and intelligence-based approach to uncover those responsible for the heinous act “He stated this.
“During the course of gathering information and intelligence, the following suspects were apprehended in various locations throughout Benin City.
“They are Omozejele John ‘M’ (29years) arrested on 26/09/2021 at about 2000hrs at Uteh Community area of Upper Mission Extension Benin City, Smart Ogbeide ‘M’ (29years) was arrested on the 27/09/2021 at about 2130hrs along with Paulingo Brothel Uteh Community Upper Mission Extension Benin City while Tajudeen Afesume ‘M’ (30years) arrested in his hideout at Owina Quarters Uteh Community Upper Mission Extension Benin city
“They are currently assisting police investigations and are already providing useful information that will lead to the arrest of other cult members who are on the run.
““The Commissioner of Police has directed that the suspects be charged in court, pledging that cult groups and other criminal elements will not be permitted to operate in the state,” the PPRO added.
