Dan Ogu, the Imo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development said the state athletes are set for “Edo 2020” National Sports Festival having completed their COVID-19 vaccine jabs.
Ogu stated this on Thursday April 1, 2021, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, while speaking with reporters about the athletes’ preparation.
He said that after undergoing the mandatory COVID-19 test and vaccine, the state contingents felt stronger.
“In compliance with the imperatives of maintaining affirmative public health interventions and implementing all COVID-19 safety protocol, Imo athletes have completely adopted the guideline and are prepared to face any competitor
“I assure the state that we will have a fantastic outing and success, and I applaud Gov. Hope Uzodinma for his unwavering support for Imo’s sports development,” Ogu said.
He encouraged all athletes to be good ambassadors for the state by refraining from engaging in unwholesome behaviour during the sporting event.
“Go and get Imo laurels and honour. We have a reputation in Imo for winning awards, and we must continue to do so,” the commissioner said
