For the good health care of his subject Obi Samuel Otiegede 11, the Traditional Ruler of Idumuogo, Aniocha North in Delta State, has urged the state government to refurbish the Idumuogo Health Centre.
The traditional ruler made the declaration as part of a two-day free medical outreach in Idumuogo on Monday, March 29, 2021.
The outreach was coordinated by the OMIWA Foundation in partnership with the Anioma Medical Professionals Forum.
The Obi noted that the health centre needed to be rehabilitated and more employees employed in order to provide successful healthcare services.
The traditional ruler claimed that due to the state of the health centre, residents of the community had difficulty accessing healthcare services.
“The centre needs to be rehabilitated, more personnel should be deployed, and people should be treated by doctors,” he said.
Mr Emeka Nwaobi, a state legislator who represents Aniocha North in the House of Assembly, said he would address the traditional ruler’s demand to the state government.
He asked community leaders to write to the state commissioner of health regarding the state of the health facility.
“You must go through the commissioner of health with your request; give me a copy of the message, and I will handle it from there,” he said.
Nwaobi thanked the organizers of the medical outreach initiative for their contribution to addressing people’s health needs.
Dr Alexander Awunor, Founder, Anioma Medical Professionals Forum, said the initiative was part of the Foundation’s way of impacting people’s lives on the side-lines of the case.
“Always take advantage of opportunities like this. “We must take advantage of every opportunity to care for our health,” he said.
“We paid for the products we’re using, and we need people to take advantage of the opportunity,” Awunor added.
Tohan Okenyi, Facilitator, OMIWA Foundation, also spoke, saying that the project’s aim was to help the neediest members of society.
“We want to expand this project to other communities in the area, It is clear that people need assistance,” he said.
