DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta state police command’s spokesperson, has denied accusations that a medical doctor in the state was murdered by family members of a patient.
Edafe stated this while responding to the claim of Dr. Uche Ojinmah, President of the Nigerian Medical Association, who issued a statement on Monday, January 2, stating that Delta Medical Doctor Dr. Uiy Iluobe was murdered on December 31, 2022, by family of a patient in a hospital in Oghara.
However, Edafe revealed in a tweet released today, January 3, that the Doctor was assassinated by cultists who entered the hospital and not by family members of a patient.
Edafe posted images of NMA members in a meeting with the state Commissioner of Police today.
“Nigerian Medical Association visits CP Delta over the murder of Dr Uyi Iluobe by Suspected cultists who came into the hospital in oghara pretending to be patients and shot him while he was attending to them. He was not killed by the family of any dead patient as being alleged pls”, he wrote.
