David De Gea, Manchester United’s best goalkeeper, has spoken candidly about his future with the team.
When his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, the Spaniard claims he would prefer to continue at the team.
The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, De Gea has drawn a lot of flak in recent years, particularly for his unwillingness to play out from the back as required of goalkeepers in modern game.
With Erik Ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford, De Gea has been speculated to leave the stadium.
After United’s 2-1 victory against Everton on Sunday, the Spain international claims he has no ambitions to quit Old Trafford.
He also shared his opinion of Cristiano Ronaldo, the star forward for Manchester United.
“Of course, I would like to be here for more years, so let’s see what happens in the future. I’m really, really happy here,” he told BT Sport.
Ronaldo scored his 700th club career goal to make it 2-1 for the Red Devils
“He’s [Ronaldo] never been in this situation before [starting on the bench], but the way he works and trains, it’s just unbelievable,” De Gea added.
“He scored the winner and he helps the team a lot. It’s not easy times for him, but he showed once again he’s a great player.”
