To combat the spread of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) variants, Morocco has suspended all flights to and from Mali, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea, and Libya on Wednesday, March 24 2021.
This was confirmed in a statement published on the website of the Moroccan National Airport Office (ONDA).
It went on to say that the suspension was only temporary and that it would last until April 10 2021.
The ban, according to the office, also applies to travellers from these countries arriving via other countries.
To combat the spread of the coronavirus and the more contagious COVID-19 variants, Morocco has suspended air connections with 35 countries.
The North African country’s state of health emergency was extended to April 10 last week, and a nationwide vaccination campaign is underway to achieve herd immunity.
COVID-19 infections in Morocco totalled 492,403 as of Tuesday, with 8,775 deaths and 480,100 recoveries.
Meanwhile, the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 4,265,196 people in the country, with the second dose administered to 2,593,204 people.
Following the arrival of the first shipment of Sinopharm vaccines from China, Morocco launched a nationwide vaccination campaign on January 28 2021.
