Sodienyem Mbatumukeke, the killer of the Jumia delivery agent has been sentenced to death by shooting by Justice Chigozie Igwe of the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt.
Mbatumukeke murdered Chukwuma Eleje who is 37years, in Port Harcourt four years ago when Eleje delivered an ordered iPhone to Mbatumukeke’s home after which Eleje’s bones were later discovered in the house’s septic tank.
However, the victim’s murder was alleged against Mbatumukeke and one Excel Destiny.
Destiny was discharged and acquitted by the court, but Mbatumukeke was found guilty as charged by the court on Monday.
Mbatumukeke, on the other hand, was characterized by Justice Igwe as a hardened criminal who deserved no mercy and who was not remorseful.
“On March 25, 2017, you were found guilty of the murder of a Jumia delivery agent and sentenced to death by shooting. You will be bound hands and legs and hanged by your neck until you die, or you will be shot by a firing squad, and may your sin be on your head.” Justice Igwe made his decision.
