According to Marca, Barcelona`President Joan Laporta wants to move more quickly to get Lionel Messi back to the Camp Nou. The Argentine moved to Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in 2021, and the Catalan club has been mulling over ways to bring him back. Laporta wants Messi to retire “wearing the Barcelona shirt” when his current deal in Paris expires next summer. Barca, though, is reportedly growing impatient and willing to make a bid for Messi as early as January since they “do not want to wait until the summer,” according to Marca.
Just doesn’t seem like this proposed agreement is feasible. There is no reason for Messi to move his departure from PSG before the end of the current campaign.
According to The Daily Star, Barcelona` is now competing with Real Madrid and Chelsea for the services of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. According to the report, Frenkie de Jong might be traded to earn money to sign Guimaraes as Barca looks to bolster its midfield options. De Jong is still Manchester United’s “top target,” and Barcelona thinks they can sell him for about £80 million and then sign Guimaraes for £60 million. In an effort to deter possible suitors, Newcastle has provided the Brazilian with a new and improved deal.
Barcelona` recruitment team has many ideas, but not all of them appear to be realized, in Paper Round’s opinion.
Frenkie de Jong is reportedly “not thinking of leaving Barcelona,” in contrast to the earlier report from the Star. Several elite clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich, are reportedly interested in signing the Dutch midfielder, but he has no desire to leave the Camp Nou. According to Sport, De Jong would not even entertain the thought of leaving the club during the winter transfer window since it is his “desire” to “remain and succeed at Barca.” De Jong could only leave the club against his will in the future if he accepts a “astronomical offer” from another team.

View from Paper Round: It wouldn’t make sense for any club to make the effort to submit a huge bid to sign De Jong in January. The winter transfer window has never really shown much value and it will probably be an even tougher market this season due to the World Cup. All the clubs interested in De Jong can probably hold off until the summer before launching any bids. The interesting part is that he apparently wants to stay now. Barca were so keen to sell him last summer, but he seems to be getting a second chance.
