|Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to waste his precious time supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that Nigerians all throughout the country have rejected him.
This was said by Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman for the |Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign, on December 22, 2022.
He claimed that at this time, Nigerians expected President Buhari to create the conditions necessary to ensure that the May 29, 2023, general elections will be peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and credible. They also expected a smooth transition of power that reflects the expressed will of the populace.
Supporting |Atiku, He further stated that Nigerians have registered their rejection of Tinubu as they have shown that “they will never trust or elect a narcotics-related lawbreaker; an individual accused of treasury-looting and many other reprehensible acts as President.”
In the statement, Ologbondiyan further stated that it was absurd and a slap in the faces of Nigerians for a person who is under fire for allegations of corruption, perjury, identity theft, inconsistencies in name and ancestry, as well as an alleged drug offense for which he reportedly forfeited a whopping $460,000 to the United States of America, to run for president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It is important to note that Nigerians will never trust the fate of their country to a person who is completely tarnished; whose reputation has been ruined by criminal accusations on a global scale; or who is unable to explain where his wealth came from in the face of claims that it is the result of corruption.
“Of course, there is no way Nigerians will trust or elect an individual who is so depraved that he can present the photograph of another person, former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke, as his to gain followership in a documentary used as part of his campaign materials to canvass for votes.
“Such proclivity to falsehood is evident in the attempt by Tinubu, who cannot point to any resounding legacy project he articulated and executed in his brawling years as Governor of Lagos State, to shamelessly claim credit for the achievements of his predecessors and successors in office.
“It is strange that anybody can expect Nigerians to elect a failed State Governor whose only achievement is entrenching governance by brawl, personal enrichment and puffery.”
Ologbondiyan pointed out that Nigerians all over the nation have since made it clear that they prefer |Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential nominee, to Tinubu as the nation’s next leader in 2023.
He claimed that |Atiku has shown himself to be a leader with the necessary moral character, good standing, and desired level of ability, presence of mind, political will, and endurance to guide our country at this pivotal juncture.
“Nigerians long for the return of the good times, the time when |Atiku Abubakar was vice president and chairman of the economic council, when our country saw extraordinary economic growth to become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and citizens were secure, prosperous and happy.
“President Buhari should therefore not waste his time to campaign for Asiwaju Tinubu, who has lost grip of the Presidential contest and is only seen in the public as a butt of jokes for his endless gaffes, display of vacuity and incapacity to lead.
“In fact, the overflowing mammoth crowd that received |Atiku and his entourage in President Buhari’s home State of Katsina as well as in Imo, Kwara, Gombe, Osun, Akwa Ibom and other States of the federation is a clear pointer to the fact that Nigerians, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliations have pitched their tents with the PDP presidential candidate,” he stated.
