The 81 Division, Nigerian Army said it was investigating the video trending on social media of a soldier engaged in fighting with a policeman in Apongbon, Lagos Island on Wednesday.
A statement issued on Thursday in Lagos by Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba said the Army division had commenced investigation into the incident.
“We are looking into the matter to fully ascertain what transpired and will get those involved and investigate the matter.
“Thereafter, necessary action will be taken,” Osoba, who is the 81 Division spokesman said.
Recall that a trending video of a soldier and a policeman fighting in the public went viral which the Lagos State Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted that the soldier Instigated the fight after the policeman stopped the bus carrying him for taking one way.
“The soldier, who was a passenger, directed the driver to drive against traffic. The policemen stopped the vehicle and the soldier took offense that the vehicle he boarded was stopped. He, therefore, decided to attack the armed policeman. The Army have been informed”, Hundeyin wrote.
