Although things got off to a rocky start at Goodison Park, Alex Iwobi has said that he never had any doubts about his capacity to flourish at Everton.
2019 saw the international from Nigeria join Everton after leaving his childhood club, Arsenal. The fact that he played under four different managers during his first two and a half years on Merseyside meant that there were more downs than ups. The midfielder, though, has advanced even further after Frank Lampard’s arrival and has gone on to become one of the most crucial players at Goodison Park.
When asked if there was any moment where he thought things would not go well with the Toffees, Alex Iwobi said, “No. I never had the mindset that it wasn’t going to work here. I had the mindset that I’d turn it around and when the opportunity came with the new manager, I used it as a new chapter of my life and said to myself, ‘Forget the past. What’s happened has happened… Now let’s go again’.
