A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered that Lukman Moses, a 30-year-old man accused of defiling a seven-year-old child, be remanded in a correctional facility pending legal advice.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel gave the order on Thursday March 18, 2021.
Moses’ pleaded for mercy but was not accepted by the Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, who instead directed the police to replicate and submit the case file to the Kaduna State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The case was adjourned until April 7 for mention by the magistrate .
The defendant, who lives in Sabon Tasha, area of Kaduna, was charged with defilement on one count.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, had previously informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on February 25 at his home.
On the same day, about 5 p.m., the defendant allegedly lured the child to his house and defiled her, according to Leo.
He said the crime was in violation of Section 261 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
